"But just as you excel in everything--in faith, in speech, in knowledge, in complete earnestness and in your love for us, see that you also excel in this grace of giving."
2 Corinthians 8:7
Giving From God's Perspective
Our financial giving reflects our heart's desire.
The widow in the story in Mark 12 gave sacrificially, trusting God to provide for her needs. She trusted the Lord to the extent that she was willing to give "all she had to live on." The two copper coins represented a full day's wages in Palestine. In contrast, the rich people in the story gave from their abundance. When "they all gave out of their wealth," it was not a sacrifice. Nor did they give of their first fruits. While the widow placed her trust, her hope and even her finances in the hands of the Lord, we're left to wonder if the rich placed their trust and their hope primarily in their finances.
As a member or faithful attendee here at Calvary Church, your giving has an impact. Through missions, weekly programs, community outreach, media presentations and more. Calvary Church is reaching people with the good news of Jesus Christ. For the past 75 years, God has blessed the ministry here.
Please join us in placing our trust and hope in the Lord to meet our financial needs. We also hope that you will join us in giving sacrificially, from a heart of love and dependence on Him. Please prayerfully consider your level of giving--not giving to the programs and ministries at Calvary, but giving to the Lord.
Thank you for partnering with us in the ministry of Calvary Church.
